Love me in Liguria: Bay of Silence

Sestri Levante is also known as the “city of the two seas”. This is because it is characterized by two particularly suggestive beaches and worthy of note. One is the Bay of Silence, a charming place where typical colorful houses are peeping, some local restaurants devoted to cuisine based on traditional dishes and events. The other is the Bay of Fables, a great expanse where stones and sand blend and where, among seaside resorts and fashionable locals, there is space for fun, from the aperitif to sunset.

«My father used to say that no matter where you are, in every part of the world, there are a thousand reflections of each of us in everything, aspects of our spirit in the form of the trees, in the crease of a smile, in the winding of a path. So when we arrive in Sestri Levante, understand that I have found the city that reflects you. The peninsula that descends into the sea is long and enchanting like your body, a handful of coloured houses squeezed into the edge of the land. But what speaks to me most of all about you is the sea. To the left the baia del silenzio (bay of silence), a name that speaks softly, to the right the baia delle favole (bay of fables), the jewel of Andersen; two parallel seas, twin circles of water. The stillness that we breathe here is inner peace that melts our bones and relaxes our muscles. It is a silence that envelops us like a glove, so warm, full-bodied and alive it seems to vibrate in the air. Even the sea observes us fixedly, motionless, immune to the wind, quick to erase any ripple of its thin liquid surface. The boats do not make a sound and are mirrored by the water so as to appear to float in the sky. All this sea, all this land, all these villages whisper quietly in my ear, a message as clear as the one in your eyes, while you look at me searching for you among the crowd. It is the language of beautiful things, made of silences that have so much to say. It is the language that speaks of you and perhaps, from today, a bit of me too.»
